Walk the Elan Valley in Mid Wales. The Rhayader and Elan Valley area has spectacular hill walking paths and more gentle trails and routes to explore in this unspoilt and dramatic part of Mid Wales. As a walking holiday base, Nannerth Country Holidays is ideally placed for access to many challenging and rewarding walks in beautiful countryside. The long distance Wye Valley Walk passes through Nannerth Fawr Farm and Glyndwr's Way passes within a few miles. For experienced walkers there are challenging routes including Drygan Fawr in the Elan Valley and the Monks Trod which links the Cistercian Abbeys of Strata Florida and Abbeycwmhir. Of medium difficulty there is the 8 mile Elan Valley trail (16m return) and sections of the Wye Valley Walk, which can be walked as a loop. For more information on these and other walks see Leaping Stiles website. For B & B, cottages and camping on these routes see Nannerth Country Holidays.

The Mid Wales countryside is a patchwork of small farms, moorland and other wild and tranquil places which walkers can explore using public rights of way and marked trails. At Nannerth Country Holidays we have created our own figure of eight farm walk in two sections, which takes you along the River Wye across hay meadows and through the wetland and pond area and then up through ancient oak woodlands onto the hills behind the farm. The lower loop will suit families with young children or those wanting a gentle stroll, while the upper loop requires some stamina. The narrow lane through the farm is a very pleasant walk in both directions and 4 miles travelling south will take you to the centre of Rhayader.
